Warsaw Sports Wrap – Sept. 17
The Warsaw girls soccer team came up on the short end of a 2-1 final to Fort Wayne Snider Monday evening.
Meredith Shipman had a goal for the game winner and an assist as Snider improved to 10-1-1 on the season with the non-conference win at WCHS.
The host Tigers took a 1-0 lead as Gabby Monroy tallied a goal in the third minute of the contest. Danielle Hutcherson assisted on the early score for Warsaw.
Snider tied the game in the 35th minute of the opening half as Hanna Feipel scored off an assist by Shipman. Shipman provided Snider with the win in the 65th minute on an unassisted goal.
Snider posted a 13-6 edge in shots in the victory. Warsaw keeper Abby Schue had 11 saves. April Smith came up with five for Snider. Warsaw had a 5-0 edge in corner kicks in the contest.
The JV contest ended in a 1-1 tie.
Warsaw (7-3-1) hosts Manchester Thursday at 5 p.m. and entertains NLC foe Wawasee Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
