Thanks To The Mentone Community
Dear Editor,
Many years ago, the Mentone Chamber of Commerce held a Halloween celebration with a costume contest. Then, several of the downtown merchants decided to be open for trick or treat, along with the people in town. In the last few years, the fire department decided to open its doors for treats and the United Methodist Church started the hot dog giveaway and trunk or treat and the First Baptist Church also had trunk or treat.
In the last two years, Dave Meredith brought his kettle corn machine to town and gave away kettle corn. All of the sudden, we have a major event for Halloween, but it is much more than that. It’s the town of Mentone opening up its arms and inviting everyone in to share the love and we all love every minute of it.
Thank you, Mentone residents, merchants, fire department, Mentone chamber and churches for a great family night. We are blessed.
