YMCA Youth Hoops Rapidly Approaching
WARSAW – Registration is going on now for the YMCA’s Youth Basketball League, where children grades two through four can learn basic skills in a positive environment.
Registration should be done by Dec. 30 at the YMCA by calling Zane Gard at (574) 269-9622 x238 or visit www.kcymca.org.
The YMCA emphasizes participation, fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship and having fun over winning. Basketball games are played on Saturday mornings at the Parkview Warsaw YMCA, with practices on Tuesday or Thursday at Harrison Elementary School. Games start Saturday, Jan. 9, and run until Feb. 13.
Again this year, the league will be working with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants from the National Basketball Developmental League. The Mad Ants will be coming to the Y on Jan. 18 to run a clinic where the kids will learn skills from the players themselves.
All Y Youth Basketball players will receive a game ticket to the YMCA Night with the Mad Ants in early March and a basketball. Families will also be able to purchase discounted tickets to the YMCA Night with the Pacers on Feb. 28, which includes an on-court experience for YMCA participants at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The Y is the leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. All the efforts and offerings of the Kosciusko Community YMCA are guided by the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Every day, the Y works side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure everyone regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through October of 2015, the Kosciusko Community YMCA provided $145,573 in financial assistance to make sure that happens.
