LCA Splits At SB Trinity
SOUTH BEND – Lakeland Christian Academy sent both of its basketball programs to South Bend Trinity and came away with a split. The girls team came away with a 43-33 win while the boys were defeated 77-42.
The Lady Cougars (4-5) had several key contributors in its win. Rachel Sand was the top dog for LCA with 22 points, nine rebounds, four steals and three blocks. Hannah Delp added 12 points, six assists and three rebounds.
Carissa Urschalitz pulled down 14 rebounds to go with three points and Melissa Goss had five boards, four steals and three assists.
Trinity’s boys had five players in double figures in the scoring column. Emmanuel Black and Pat Morin led the squad with 17 points each. Alex Rowland added 13 points, Matt Lougran had 12 points and David Pruess finished with 10 points.
Josh McDaniel paced the Cougars (0-5) with 11 points while Connor Blum and Noah Twombly each scored seven points.
LCA will have the week off before taking part in next Saturday’s Bethany Christian Tournament. The LCA boys will take on Bethany at 11:30 a.m. after South Bend Trinity and Elkhart Christian face off at 10 a.m. The LCA girls will meet Bethany at 10 a.m. with Trinity and ECA playing at 11:30 a.m. The two tournaments will continue on in the evening with consolation and championship games.
