New Knitting Groups
After several successful classes on beginner knitting skills in the Nappanee Public Library’s makerspace, instructor, Rebecca Haney, is coordinating an ongoing knitters’ group at the library. Those interested will meet every other month from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, to work together on projects, learn new skills and get help with familiar ones. Ages 12 and up are welcome, and participants must bring their own supplies.
The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 12. Bring any current project, or learn to knit a scarf. Those wishing to start a scarf should bring an 8 ounce skein of 4-ply yarn and a pair of size 10 knitting needles.
No registration is needed. Go to www.nappaneelibrary.org, or call (574) 773-7919 for more information.
Cooking Class
Learn to make some simple, yummy snacks at a free cooking class for teens at the Nappanee Public Library. Students, age 11 – 17, will gain some basic skills for becoming comfortable in the kitchen as they mix up a batch of pizza dip and some no-bake snowball cookies from 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14.

Join the fun and fellowship with other quilters while keeping up to date with new activities and techniques in the quilting world. Smashbook Journaling
Learn a fun and easy way to journal and keep memories at an after-hours Smashbook cram session in The Cube at the library from 6-10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15. The Smashbook style is an anything-goes, no-holds-barred, beautiful-mess scrapbooking technique that is created using a wide range of art supplies, photos and mementos “smashed” into a simple notebook.
Instructors will share ideas for page layouts and favorite tools and show participants how to use The Cube’s digital cutter, die cut machine and other equipment to embellish pages. Set aside some time to finish books you’ve begun, or start a new one for the new year! Blank notebooks and some tools and supplies will be provided for free along with snacks, drinks and giveaways! Adults and teens, age 12-17, are welcome.
Call (574) 773-7919 to register, or click on the events calendar at www.nappaneelibrary.org by Friday, Jan. 8. Students under age 18 attending without a parent must have a signed permission form on file before being registered. Stop in at any service desk to complete a permission form.
