Richard A. Wood
Richard A. Wood, 77, of Akron, passed at 5:36 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at his residence.
He was born on Aug. 4, 1938, in Rochester, to Lester A. and Edna M. (Blodgett) Wood.
He was married on Sept. 2, 1959 in Akron, to Mary Frances Arthur, she survives.
He was a mechanic at Arthur’s Service and owner at Ray’s Service Station in Akron. Wood was a 1956 graduate of Akron High School. He served his country in the United State Air Force. He enjoyed going to the round table at the restaurant to have coffee and talk about the day’s news. He also was a very dedicated Chicago Cubs fan.
Additional survivors include: a daughter: Joyce Mikesell, Athens; a son: Raymond and wife Jill Wood, Akron; grandchildren: Brianne, Dylan, and Shane; sisters: Helen and husband Dick Clark, New Haven; and Mary Alice and husband Frank Roberts, Prescott, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Lester A. and Edna M. Wood
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron,. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, in Hartzler Funeral Home where military rites will be preformed by the Fulton County Honor Guard. Burial will be at a later date: Akron Cemetery, Akron.
