Cougars Rush Past Triton
BOURBON – Triton could not have picked a worse time to play New Prairie than Friday night.
The Cougars, coming off a league whipping at the hands of undefeated and No. 1 Jimtown at home a week ago, ran past the Trojans 56-17 in a Northern State Conference contest.
New Prairie ran for 434 yards on 58 carries in bouncing back from its first loss of the season. The Cougars, who outscored Triton 35-10 in the second half Friday night, improve to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in league play.
Triton, still winless on the season, stayed with the Cougars for the opening half. The contest was tied at 7-7 after the opening period before a pair of New Prairie touchdowns gave the guests a 21-7 halftime advantage.
Wade Young led the rushing onslaught for the Cougars. He ran for 200 yards on 24 carries with a pair of touchdowns. Five different players scored touchdowns for New Prairie.
