Warsaw Residents Involved In Five-Vehicle Accident
GOSHEN — Two Warsaw residents escaped injury in a five-vehicle accident on SR 15 at Egbert, one-fourth mile south of the city limits of Goshen today, Feb. 10. The accident was at 1:50 p.m. Three people were injured.Darvin Setser, 27, and Kenneth Parrish Jr., 33, both of Warsaw were not injured.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department Dalvin Slater, 22, Goshen, was southbound on SR 15 in a 1993 Ford when he attempted to make a right turn on Egbert. Police report Slater was traveling too fast for the snow covered roadway and lost control of his vehicle, veering back to the left. Slater’s vehicle then struck Setser’s southbound 2001 Dodge Ram.
After impact, Setser swerved his vehicle on Egbert and into a private parking lot, hitting an unoccupied parked 2008 Jeep Wrangler. Parish, operating a 2006 Freightliner semitractor/trailer, was also southbound and had slowed down but struck the back of Setser’s vehicle. The semitractor/trailer then veered left of center and hit a northbound 2014 Ford F150 driven by Joseph Hendrixson, 26, Indianapolis.
Slater complained of pain to the legs and a passenger in his vehicle, Tashira Twun, 22, Goshen, complained of pain to her neck. Hendrixson complained of pain to the left side and left knee. He also suffered minor abrasions to the legs, arms and face. All three were transported to IU Health Goshen.
Slater was cited for conditions requiring an appropriate reduction of speed, no insurance and no valid operator’s license. Hendrixson was cited for no seatbelt.
