Former Milford Pair Faces Federal Drug Charges
Two former Milford residents are facing drug charges after Elkhart County police located methamphetamine and more than 100 pounds of marijuana in their Rolling Prairie home.
Officers of the Elkhart County Interdictions and Enforcement Unit on Friday arrested Joseph Olivo, 32, and Hayle Doty, 33, in their home. Police say the arrests followed an investigation that spanned about two months.
Law enforcement agencies determined during the investigation that Olivo and Doty were a major source of marijuana in Elkhart County.
During a warrant service on the home, police found 102.5 pound of marijuana, 5.5 grams of cocaine and 1.9 grams of methamphetamine. They also located more than $144,000 in cash and three handguns, including one that was reported stolen from Michigan.
The estimated value of the drugs that were confiscated is $93,000.
A 16-year-old was in the home at the time of the raid, but was not arrested.
Elkhart County Prosecutor Curtis T. Hill Jr. stated in a press release, “It’s obvious that marijuana is still the centerpiece of illegal drug trafficking and is connected to violence and excessive amounts of cash.”
Olivo and Doty were placed in federal custody pending the review of charges.
