Kingsmen, Indians To Play At Carroll
INDIANAPOLIS – Penn and South Bend St. Joseph will share the stage in semistate action at Carroll High School in Fort Wayne next Saturday.
The IHSAA announced semistate assignments earlier today for each of the 16 girls basketball teams still competing in the state tournament series.
St. Joseph will face Heritage Christian in the Class 3-A North Semistate game at 4 p.m. at Carroll. The Indians are 25-1 and the Eagles are 24-4. Penn (26-2) will then meet Homestead (26-2) in the Class 4-A semistate contest.
Argos and Oregon-Davis will each travel to the North Semistate at Crown Point on Saturday. The Dragons (23-3) will face Tri-Central (17-11) in the Class 1-A game at 1 p.m. ET with the Class 2-A game between Oregon-Davis (26-2) and Lafayette Central Catholic (23-5) to follow.
The South Semistate at Richmond will have Covenant Christian (22-5) versus Providence (21-7) in the Class 2-A game at 1 p.m. Ronal (24-2) will then face Columbus North (26-1) in the Class 4-A contest.
The Jeffersonville Semistate pits Jac-Cen-Del (25-1) versus Vincennes Rivet (25-3) at 4 p.m. in the Class 1-A game. The Class 3-A game will follow between Lebanon (22-6) and North Harrison (27-2).
The semistate winners earn a spot in the State Finals on Feb. 27 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Class 1-A game is set for 10:30 a.m. with the Class 2-A finale to follow. The Class 3-A title game is at 6 p.m. with the Class 4-A state championship contest to follow.
