TVMS Cagers, Grapplers Compete
AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley Middle School girls basketball team and wrestling squad were both in action Saturday.
The Valley 8th grade girls basketball A team went 1-1 in the Running Rivers Conference Tournament.
Valley defeated Rochester 38-21 as Jillian Walls scored 12 points and Makenzie Woodcox had 11. Emma Craig scored five points, while Faith Kamp and Bethany Johnson each had four and Karina Young two for the winners.
The Valley ladies then lost 45-36 to North Miami. Craig poured in 18 points in that contest to lead her team. Walls scored eight pints and Kamp seven, while Young had two and Woodcox one.
The Valley wrestling team defeated Rochester 69-34 and lost to Discovery 111-0 in a three-way meet.
Earning wins by pins for Valley versus Rochester were Branson McBrier, Luis Castillo, Joseph Irons, Brandon Hammer and Ian Becker. Aaron Arnett earned a minor decision, while Matthew Davis, Drake Montelongo, Zach Burke, Jacob Eherenman, Lucas Goble and Cooper Slone also won. In exhibition matches, Hunter Eherenman, Nathaniel Arnett, Luis Castillo, Tyler Nine and Andy Hurd were all victorious.
Winning for Valley in exhibition matches versus Discovery were Justin Perdieu, Drake Montelongo, Zach Burke, Nathaniel Arnett, Cooper Slone and Johnny Gonzales.
