ND Earns Double Bye In ACC Tourney
WASHINGTON D.C. – Notre Dame got what it wanted, earning a double bye in the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball tournament. The Irish are the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will get the double bye, not having to suit up until the quarterfinals.
Three top-10 teams sit at the top of the ACC tournament, with North Carolina (No. 8 nationally, No. 1 seed in the ACC tournament), Virginia, No. 4 nationally, No. 2 tournament) and Miami (No. 7 nationally, No. 3 tournament) along with No. 4 seed Notre Dame, which is unranked heading into the tournament. Carolina won the top seed with its 14-4 conference mark, with Miami and Virginia both 13-5 in ACC play. Notre Dame and Duke, the No. 5 seed, both finished 11-7 but Notre Dame won the head-to-head matchup with the Blue Devils.
Louisville was 12-6 in ACC play, but are ineligible for postseason play after the NCAA handed the program sanctions banning them from postseason play for this season.
