Elderly Dog Welcomes Home Soldier

CLEVELAND — A military homecoming is always a special event, but a video of one Ohio soldier’s return is just too much.
Private Hannah Foraker left her Cleveland home for basic training in Oklahoma last September. She got to return home for Christmas three months later and was greeted by her 13-year-old golden retriever, Buddy.
But when the elderly pup realized what was going on, things got extra emotional.
“We opened the front door and she came running out and greeted me and my family, but then kind of did a double take and came back to me,” Foraker told BuzzFeed.
Foraker says Buddy is mostly deaf and has arthritis, but you wouldn’t know it by the video she posted to YouTube last month.
The graying, fuzzy pooch stretches out across Foraker’s lap, whimpering and pawing at her best friend’s leg as her tail wags wildly. Foraker’s parents said they were shocked by the energy in the aging Buddy.
“It was amazing,” Foraker said in her BuzzFeed interview. “I wish I could do it again.”
Foraker got to spend two weeks with Buddy during the holidays before returning to her Army duty in Texas.
