Rostochak, Schmidt Among Academic All-State
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association issued Tuesday its selections for its Academic All-State teams for boys and girls basketball.
Seventy-two Indiana high school seniors – 36 boys and 36 girls – were chosen as First-Team Academic All-State. In addition, 172 more boys and 142 more girls were recognized as Honorable Mention Academic All-State for 2016.
Among the choices were local players Kylee Rostochak for Wawasee, who was selected for the girls First Team All-Academic, and Warsaw’s Evan Schmidt, who was boys Honorable Mention.
Choices for the girls First Team All-Academic included Penn’s Camryn Buhr, East Noble’s Katie Kline and South Central (Union Mills) Riley Popplewell.
Area Honorable Mention girls included Penn’s Claire Carlton, Lindsay Chrise, Kaitlyn Marenyi and Kamra Soloman; NorthWood’s McKayla Fielstra, Arika Flickinger and Gabi Glass; Wabash’s Madison Barden, John Glenn’s Ashley Burnett, Columbia City’s Regan Decker, Mishawaka Marian’s Savannalouise Dennig, East Noble’s Chandler Jones, Northridge’s Kelly Miller, Argos’ Valerie Rospopo, Garrett’s Taylor Smith and Plymouth’s Lucy Zeiger.
Area Honorable Mention boys included Penn’s Gunther Dittrich, Ben Knutson, Tyler Seger and Matt Trewhella; Goshen’s Brady Bechtel, Cameron Kline, James Paetkau and Colton Potter; Manchester’s Matthew Pegg and Braydon Sewell; John Glenn’s Alec Runyan and Daniel Wallace; Plymouth’s Josh Anders and Northridge’s Kurtis Hochstetler.
