Elizabeth Brooks, 78, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at the IU Goshen Hospital.

She was born on March 25, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisc., to Roy and Julia (Smith) Coffey. She was married to Leonard Brooks III who preceded her in 2001.

She had resided in Syracuse since 1978 and was a retired nurse.

She is survived by her two daughters: Joanna Merriman, Syracuse; and Judith Brooks, Arizona; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her husband and a son: Leonard Brooks IV.

Calling will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
