Bradley Facing A Welfare Fraud Charge
CLAYPOOL — Joshua J. Bradley, 29, 208 S. Clay St., Claypool, was arrested on a class C felony of welfare fraud Monday, March 21. He was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:12 p.m.
The charge states he knowingly concealed information for the purpose of receiving public relief or assistance which he was not entitled.
The affidavit of probable cause filed by Monica Portillo, fraud investigator with Indiana Department of Workforce Development, states around Dec 24, 2012, Bradley applied for unemployment compensation benefits in Warsaw, reporting he had been laid off. He began receiving benefits of $390 per week starting Dec. 29, 2012, and continued filing for benefits through Jan. 28, 2014.
Throughout that time Bradley certified that he remained unemployed and was to either report no earnings or accurately report any full or part time wages earned.
On May 20, 2015, Portillo inspected payroll records relating to Bradley and noted there were weekly earnings from Forest River Manufacturing LLC corresponding to the weeks he received benefits. Officials report Bradley did not report this employment and earnings to IDWD.
State officials report he received an overpayment of $10,140 plus penalties that total $12,722.50.
Bradley is being held on $10,000 surety and $250 cash bond.
