Geraldine M. ‘Jeri’ Shearer
Geraldine M. “Jeri” Shearer, 84, Warsaw, formerly of Bourbon, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016, at 6:25 p.m. in Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne. Jeri was born September 12, 1931, to George and Mildred (Shriver) Harper in Akron. She has been a lifelong resident of the area.
Jeri was a graduate of Akron High School and attended college for Medical Secretary education. She had been employed at Doctors Smith and Campbell of Fort Wayne as a Medical Secretary. Jeri enjoyed going to the Wagon Wheel Theatre and hardly ever missing a performance, she loved to be a classy dresser with her shoe and purse collections for every occasion along with the jewelry to match.
She married William E. Shearer, Jr. on May 17, 1969. He died May 15, 1993. She is survived by her daughters: Vicki Shearer, Warsaw, Cheryl (Mrs. Jim) Holderman, Warsaw; and her son: Michael (Susan) Shearer, Warsaw. She was further blessed with four grandchildren: Melinda Shearer, Samantha (Mrs. Jesse) Shumaker, Morgan Holderman and Spenser Holderman; along with six great-grandchildren. She has a brother: Arthur Harper who also survives.
Proceeding her in death were her parents, her husband, son: Gary in 1980; a sister: Jolane Futrell; and several brothers.
Jeri choose to be an organ donor which the family honored her wishes. The family will have a graveside service on Tuesday, March 29, at 11 a.m. in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, where she will be placed with her husband.
