Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
10:54 a.m. Saturday, April 9, SR 13 north of East Shoop Road, Pierceton. Driver: Ashley N. Lyon, 22, South School Avenue, Silver Lake. Witnesses reported seeing Lyon’s vehicle go around a curve and slide off the road, rolling down an embankment. Lyon was thrown from the passenger side window. She was transported to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, for possible head and internal injuries. Damage up to $25,000.
7:47 a.m. Saturday, April 9, North SR 13 south of East CR 150N, Warsaw. Driver: Joyce Z. Massie, 17, EMS T7A Lane, Leesburg. Massie’s vehicle hit ice and went off the road. Massie complained of head pain and her mother drove her to the hospital. Damage up to $2,500.
6:34 a.m. Saturday, April 9, East CR 400N east of EMS B1 Lane, Leesburg. Driver: Casey W. Collins, 31, EMS W29 Lane, North Webster. Collins’s vehicle hit a utility pole. The driver’s father picked him up and drove him from the scene. Damage up to $25,000.
5:22 a.m. Saturday, April 9, East US 30 east of East CR 250S, Pierceton. Drier: Stefanie Buriff, 41, East Pink Magnolia Drive, Winona Lake. Buriff’s vehicle slid into the median, rolled and came to a rest on the driver’s side. Damage up to $25,000.
11:04 p.m. Friday, April 8, North Old SR 15 south of East CR 575N, Warsaw. A vehicle hit a utility pole, then became stuck in a nearby field. The driver left the scene. Damage up to $10,000.
North Webster
Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accidents:
8:09 p.m. Saturday, April 9, North SR 13 north of East George Street, North Webster. Drivers: Marcy J. Kuemmel, 45, Ligonier, and Daniel N. Savage, 39, North Midlake Drive, North Webster. Savage’s vehicle slowed to make a lefthand turn and Kuemmel’s vehicle rear-ended it. Damage up to $25,000.
11:38 a.m. Saturday, April 9, North Main Street and West Washington Street, North Webster. Drivers: Beverly D. Smith, 65, East Sunset Drive, Syracuse, and Scott D. Schafer, 48, EMS W19 Lane, North Webster. Schafer’s vehicle slowed down and Smith’s vehicle rear-ended it. damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
9:59 p.m. Saturday, April 9, East Market Street South of South Detroit Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Roberto Alvarez, 31, North Detroit Street, LaGrange, Nancy Torres, 21, North Martin Street, Ligonier, and Lester J. Conley, 45, West Main Street, Silver Lake. Alvarez’s vehicle rear-ended Torres’s vehicle, pushing it forward into Conley’s vehicle. Alvarez attempted to leave the scene but was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Torres was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital with complaints of neck and back pain. Damage up to $10,000.
7:06 p.m. Friday, April 8, Wexford Place and Pioneer Lane, Warsaw. Driver: Stacy E. Lock, 41, Diplomat Drive, Columbia City. Lock’s vehicle slid off the road, hitting several rocks and boulders and damaging landscaping. Lock was cited for driving without proof of insurance and driving while suspended. Damage up to $2,500.
5:32 p.m. Friday, April 8, Lake City Highway west of North Parker Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Karen J. Slagle, 61, East Centennial Street, Nappanee, and Clifford E. Kimmel, 67, Dupont Oaks Place, Fort Wayne. Slagle was not able to stop her vehicle in time and it rear-ended Kimmel’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
10:21 a.m. Friday, April 8, 3611 Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: David R. Veale, 37, Balfor Court, Lainsburg, Mich., and David G. McDaniel, 52, Vermillion Avenue, Cedar Lake. Veale backed his semi and it collided with McDaniel’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
8:33 a.m. Friday, April 8, north/south alley east of North Roosevelt Street, Warsaw. Driver: James H. Stafford, 58, West CR 800S, Claypool. The garbage truck Stafford was driving caught low-hanging utility wires. Damage up to $10,000.
