WARSAW — May 1-7 is National Tourism Week and the Kosicusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau invites the community to celebrate.

An informal cookout lunch is set for 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the visitors center, along with an open house inside the visitors center. According to KCCVB Executive Director Jill Boggs, the event is a way to raise awareness of the impact tourism has on Kosciusko County.

“We’re taking this day to celebrate and it’s an effort to bring some advocacy of the economic impact and quality of place it brings and how important tourism is for us to attract both the overnight visitors as well as the day visitor,” Boggs said.

One-Ten Craft Meatery will grill hot dogs and sausages while live music will broadcast from on site. Live broadcasts take place from 9:30 a.m. until the end of the event and air time has been set aside for each community in the county. A drawing will also take place for a $600-value “Experience Kosciusko” prize pack. Boggs noted that those who wish to enter need to come out to the event to do so, however they do not need to be present to win.

The visitors center will also be open for guests to look around and learn more about attractions in the local area.

“We have so many dynamic attractions,” Boggs said of Kosicusko county. “Outdoor recreation, cultural museums, lakes, historical spots, arts and entertainment; we’re really fortunate because we have some good, good tourism and what we in the industry call visitor product.”
