Firearms Class Being Offered
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — After the recent increase state-wide and local personal protection permit applications, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department has received numerous requests for firearm training from citizens.
In response, the KCSD Firearms Division will be implementing a new “home and personal defense” firearms class. Lt. Don Wiesehan stated this initial class will consist of two dates, from 6-10 p.m. May 24 and 26, at the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
The first session on May 24 will be conducted in a classroom session to encompass safety, handling and other various nomenclature issues. The May 26 class will be actual range application for basic pistol techniques. This class is limited to 10 participants and will require that the applicants provide their own personal handgun along with bringing a minimum of 100 rounds of matching ammunition for the firearm.
KCSD Firearms Instructor James Marshall stated that “with the access of the Sheriff’s Department indoor range, inclement weather will not be a factor and should provide for a better learning & training experience for beginners.”
Individuals interesting in the firearms class can register by contacting Wiesehan at either (574) 265-2221 or via his email at [email protected] . There is a $35 fee to cover the cost of the books/training material.
