Tense Warrant Service In Pierceton
A warrant service near Pierceton late Monday night provided some tense moments for neighbors in the Regency Pointe Estates Mobile Home Park late Monday night.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputies were contacted by Whitley County Sheriff’s deputies to help assist in the execution of an active arrest warrant for Jeremiah Smith.
Sheriff’s deputies from both counties, along with two Indiana State Troopers from the Fort Wayne District surrounded the mobile home trailer at Lot 24. Regency Estates is located just east of Pierceton along U.S. 30.
Officers attempted to get the occupants of the trailer to answer the door several times with no response. When they saw individuals through windows moving around inside, they again advised the subjects to open the door. The occupants, however, did not comply so Whitley County Sheriff”s deputies obtained a search warrant.
With the warrant in hand, the officers then used a squad car PA system to advise the occupants to open the door to the residence. Neighbors reported seeing the officers with weapons drawn, waiting for the occupants to respond to their orders.
Still getting no response, Whitley County deputies then gained entry into the trailer with the assistance of ISP troopers.
Inside, officers located two females inside the residence, along with Jeremiah Smith who was hiding in a rear bedroom. Smith was taken into custody without incident and arrested on the original Whitley County warrant for Class C felony burglary and Class D felony theft.
