WARSAW — Elvis will take over downtown Warsaw during June’s First Friday event on June 3. The whole night will revolve around the 1940s and 1950s with activities such as a lookalike contest and an Elvis impersonator. The night’s events will be from 5-9 p.m. downtown Warsaw on Center and Buffalo streets.

During this month’s festivities, the Walk-n-Wander sculptures will be unveiled at 6 p.m. at the corner of Lake and Center streets. The exhibit features life-size sculptures by American sculptor Seward Johnson depicting people engaging in everyday activities. The exhibit will remain in Warsaw until Sept. 29.

There will be a lookalike contest starting at 7 p.m. Participants can choose to dress up like Elvis, Ricky and Lucy, Marilyn Monroe or James Dean. Participants are asked to show up to the information booth 10 minutes early to get ready for the show.

An Elvis impersonator will perform before and after the lookalike contest, starting at 6:30 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m.

The Current Effects project will still be on display to show the public the effects of polluting local storm drains. The project combines the work of the art department at Grace College, local area middle and high school students, Center for Lakes & Streams, the city of Warsaw and Warsaw Stormwater Department.

Along with all the special events, there will also be food vendors, downtown shopping and many more fun activities for the whole family.
