Jimenez Earns Player Of The Week Honor
SOUTH BEND – South Bend Cubs outfielder Eloy Jimenez has been named the Midwest League’s Player of the Week.
In six games, the 19-year old outfielder hit .458 with a .519 on-base percentage.
Jimenez entered action this week with only two home runs. But the Dominican Republic native in 24 at-bats this week hit four home runs including his second career two home run game at Great Lakes on May 19. Jimenez also scored five runs and drove in seven.
Entering Monday’s game at Lake County, Jimenez over the first thirteen games of the Cubs road trip is hitting .400 with five home runs and ten runs batted in.
Jimenez is the first South Bend Cubs player in 2016 to earn Midwest League honors.
The South Bend Cubs return to Four Winds Field Tuesday to open a seven-game home stand versus the Great Lakes Loons. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
