Dragons Hold On For 6-4 Win
SOUTH BEND – South Bend’s four game winning streak was halted by the Dayton Dragons at Four Winds Field Wednesday night, 6-4.
South Bend starter Adbert Alzolay (4-3) took the loss as he struggled throughout the game allowing 11 hits and six runs over five and a third innings.
The Cubs made the game interesting by scoring two times in the seventh on a two-RBI single by Jesse Hodges.
South Bend got the tying run to the plate in the eighth and ninth but could not score allowing Dayton to win just their 15th game in 59 contests this year.
The Eastern Division standings now show South Bend with a half a game lead over West Michigan, 1 game in front of West Michigan and two and a half games ahead of Fort Wayne.
The Cubs pitch Ryan Kellogg (2-3, 4.19) against the Dragons in the final game of this three game series tonight at 7:05 p.m.
