County BZA Approves Petition For Boat Displays
WARSAW — During its regular monthly meeting Tuesday morning, June 14, in the Justice Building in Warsaw, Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals approved a petition for Randy and Lisa Rinker.
The Rinkers petitioned for an exception to allow a change or alteration to a previously granted exception by allowing an outside display area on property zoned residential on SR 13, west of Trusdell Avenue in Turkey Creek Township. Matt Sandy, assistant planning director for the county, noted five display units, in this case for boats, was approved by the BZA. The Rinkers were approved a few years ago by the BZA for a home based business at the same site.
Other agenda items included:
• Warsaw Storage was granted a variance to permit the construction of a commercial building 15 feet from the east property line (the ordinance requires 20 feet) on the east side of SR 15, north of Levi Lee Road in Plain Township.
• Michael and Angela Randall’s petition for a variance to allow a ground pool to remain 3 feet from the rear property line on the west side of CR 225E, north of Pontiac Drive in Wayne Township, was denied. The pool is in the middle of a 20-foot drainage easement and is simply too close to the property line. The BZA did allow the Randalls to keep the pool for one year before they must have it removed.
• Brian and Cynthia Malik were granted a variance to permit the construction of a residence accessory 20 feet from the right of the way of the road on the west side of EMS W25 Lane, north of Backwater Road, in Tippecanoe Township.
• Chad Bruner was granted a variance to permit allowing the replacement of an existing roof over concrete 21 feet from the right of way and 3 feet from the north sideline on the west side of Chapman Lake Drive, northeast of CR 250N in Plain Township.
• Ruth Cook’s petition for a variance to permit allowing a residence accessory on the east side of Kings Drive, south of Pickwick Road in Turkey Creek Township was denied. The BZA felt the building would be inconsistent with the appearance of the surrounding neighborhood.
• Steven and Laree Couwenhoven were granted a variance to permit construction of a garage 3 feet from the side property line and 5 feet from the right of way on the west side of EMS D25A Lane, south of EMS D25 Lane in Van Buren Township.
• Mitch and Jaime Hollar were granted a variance to permit creation of a new tract of ground without road frontage on the east side of East Street, south of Catherine Street in Milford. They are being allowed to use an existing easement.
• Egg Innovations was granted a variance to allow a transformer, two generators and electrical building to remain as placed without permits 3.4 feet from a west property line on the south side of CR 100N, east of CR 525W in Harrison Township.
