MILFORD — Milford Public Library will be hosting various activities during the next week.
Cake Day
To promote our cake pan collection, we have declared June 28 Cake Day! The library has more than 30 different cake pans that can be checked out for three weeks. If you have a special occasion coming up, or just want to make a beautiful cake, take a look at our collection in the adult department. Join us for a delicious piece of cake baked and decorated by Shari Lambert. Miss Shari will make a Book cake for our Summer Reading Program promoting reading for all ages. We will serve cake until it’s all gone, so plan to stop by and make your day sweeter!
Mike Hemmelgarn: Ventriloquist and Juggler
Can you juggle three bowling balls at once? Well Mike Hemmelgarn, juggler and ventriloquist, can and will be here on Wednesday, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 29 at the Milford Community Building. His fun-filled educational thrill ride presentation teaches kids three main points: Reading is really FUN!, Reading makes your mind and imagination GROW!, and Reading can make your DREAMS come true! This program will be fun for the whole family. At the end of the program we will draw for door prizes.
Teen Event: Table Tennis Tournament
Teens! Bring your friends for a Table Tennis Tournament at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 30, in the library meeting room. Invite your friends to play Table Tennis and compete to be a Table Tennis Champion. Afterwards, enjoy some refreshments. Even if you have never played ping pong, you are invited to participate. Did you know that Table Tennis is a Summer Olympic sport?
Family Summer Story Time: Let’s Play
Join us this week at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. Friday, July 1. Bring the whole family to listen to Guest Storyteller Malea Johnson as she reads stories about playing outside and playing inside. Listen to her read “Let’s Play” by Leo Leoni and other great stories. After the reading, you will make a craft and enjoy a snack. This summer your family can earn up to eight free books just by attending each of the family summer story times. Families may sign up at the Children’s circulation desk.
Family Street Dance
This year, we invite all family members to a community street dance in the library parking lot from 8-10 p.m. Friday, July 1. We will block off our parking lot and play music the whole family can dance to. Dance to hits from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and more by J & S Van Lue DJ Service. Bring your friends and family for a great night of dancing. We will have some refreshments. Donations are appreciated.
Closed for Fourth of July
We will be closed on Monday, July 4 in observance of the Fourth of July. Spend some time with your families and enjoy the day! We will open at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 5. If you need to return any items while we are closed, there are drop boxes on the south end of the building. Have a great Fourth of July.
