Chautuaqua-Wawasee And Oakwood To Stay Active This Summer
This summer, families have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of events in Chautuaqua-Wawasee and the Oakwood Resort in Syracuse.
To begin the celebration of the birth of America, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s Patriotic Pops Concert will enhance the evening of June 28 with patriotic music at 7 p.m. The concert will be held at Oakwood Resort. More music can be enjoyed at the resort July 1 at 9 p.m. Ty Causey will return to Oakwood to play soul, jazz and R&B. Causey is a producer, singer and songwriter and will certainly please the crowd with his love songs. Contemporary pop and classical rock songs will be played by Pick Slide, July 2 at 9 p.m. The band will also perform popular country songs. Both live concerts are free.
For kids aged 3 to 7, Chautuaqua-Wawasee is sponsoring the Summer Reading Program with Ms. Esther. The program is free. Kids are invited for games, stories, educational activities, music, art and snacks at the Oakwood Event Center. The dates for the program are July 5, 12, 16 and 26 in the morning, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Car lovers will appreciate the Inaugural Car Show July 24, noon to 2:30 p.m., at the Oakwood Resort site. Proceeds from the entry fees will be donated to the Syracuse-Wawasee Trails. Judging of entries will conclude at 3 p.m. in the following categories: current classic, future classic, people’s choice and marquis class. The latter is a category for cars valued over $100,000.
For the art enthusiasts, the Oakwood Fine Arts Festival will feature fine arts and crafts at the Oakwood Resort August 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The outdoors event is free and will include entertainment, food and activities for children. Art work presented will be available for sale. Applications to present artwork are due July 20.
