Teams Race To Silver Lake Days Festival
SILVER LAKE — The Silver Lake Days Festival bed race is returning for the fourth year as team Complete Fleet defends its champion title.
The race begins at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 18, on the east side of SR 14 in front of Lake City Bank, downtown Silver Lake.
Rules are fairly simple: One person must ride the bed at all times and all riders must be clad in a night gown or pajamas, over their regular clothing. At each checkpoint, riders will switch off with one of the pushers and hand their pajamas to the next person. These must be completely on before the the pushers can begin running again.
Two beds will race in each heat and four people will push each bed, which cannot have motors, pedals or chains. Beds must have at least four wheels and broken beds will be disqualified from the race. A minimum of six teams are needed for the race to go on.
The cost to enter a team is $10 and each team must sign a registration form and a liability form. Any participants younger than age 18 must have a signed permission slip from a parent.
