North Webster Mermaid Festival Parade To Celebrate Indiana’s 200th
NORTH WEBSTER — As part of the 71st annual North Webster Mermaid Festival, the main parade will begin at 4 p.m., Saturday, June 25.
This year’s parade theme is Indiana Bicentennial, Celebrating Indiana, as 2016 marks 200 years of Indiana’s statehood. School marching bands will be performing on the 1.5-mile parade route down Main Street. Bands will have an opportunity to win prize money.
Apart from musicians, the parade will be made up of floats expressing the Bicentennial theme. Winners of the parade will be decided by a panel of judges for a chance to receive a portion of the $30,000 scholarship. Scholarships will be provided by the Shoop Sports and Youth Foundation Inc.
