Mohr Tabbed As New Whitko AD
SOUTH WHITLEY — Home is where our story begins and for Josh Mohr, Whitko High School has always been home. Mohr’s story turned to a new chapter Monday night as he was named the new athletic director for Wildcat athletics.
“I couldn’t be more excited to remain at Whitko,” explained Mohr. “It’s were I attended as a student, then taught and coached. To continue to give back to a school that I owe so much to is a blessing.
“The decision to move from coach to AD was not taken lightly. It just felt like the right time to make that jump. My role has changed, but I am still going to be able to help the athletes I have known for several years, it’s pretty cool to continue working with them, just in a different capacity.”
Mohr has spent the past three seasons as Whitko’s head football coach. In that time the Wildcats won 18 games and a Three Rivers Conference title (2013). Last season Mohr helped to guide the program to both the TRC title game and sectional championship game.
The vacated position for football coach has now been opened and applications are currently being taken.
Mohr also played the role as supervisor during the winter and spring sports seasons the past few years under for directors Rob Irwin and Casey Stouffer.
“Those experiences have given me a good foundation of knowledge to build from,” said Mohr. “I am excited to get started, continue to learn and strive for excellence in everything we do.”
Mohr takes over a department that boasted 17 athletic programs in the 2015-16 school year. It will certainly be a big change in responsibility and time dedication, but there’s no other school that Mohr would want to devote his efforts towards.
“Whitko is not just a school, it is a family,” Mohr stated. “The students and staff here truly care about each other. We are committed to building relationships through communication and trust.
“Whitko is a great place to be with a great culture of success.”
