Intimidation With A Deadly Weapon At Time Out Inn
SYRACUSE — Jeffrey Allen Adkins, 24, 205 E. Pearl St., Syracuse, is being charged with a level 5 felony of intimidation with a deadly weapon; battery with moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony and carrying a handgun without a license, a class A misdemeanor.
Warsaw Police Officer Jason Dobbins responded to a call of shots fired at the Time Out Inn on June 18. When Dobbins arrived he found a subject being held down in the parking lot, who turned out to be Adkins. Dobbins reported that Adkins had blood coming from his nose and left cheek area.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, an off-duty bouncer from Time Out was drinking with another off-duty bouncer when they noticed Adkins causing problems with other patrons of the bar.
The two bouncers approached Adkins, telling him it was time to leave and then escorted him to the front door of the establishment. When all three exited the building, Adkins then struck one of the bouncers with a beer bottle to the side of the bouncer’s face.
The bouncers reported Adkins walked into the middle of the parking lot and yelled that he had a gun and he would shoot them. Adkins then walked to his vehicle and produced a handgun and fired it into the air.
Both bouncers tackled Adkins, taking him to the ground, where they kept him pinned until police arrived.
Warsaw Police Officer Samuel Weaver had a patron of the bar approach him with a black Kel-tec 9 mm handgun that had been fired by Adkins. Another Warsaw Police officer, Brandon Zartman located a spend 9 mm shell casing under Adkins’ vehicle.
Adkins denied owning a handgun, but later admitted he owned the Kel-tec 9 mm. Dobbins found out that Adkins did not possess a handgun permit.
Adkins is being held on a bond of $10,250 surety and cash.
