WARSAW — Big things are happening in Wabash. Yesterday, Thursday, June 30, at the Parkview Wabash Hospital groundbreaking ceremony, the community and Parkview staff gathered to celebrate the beginning of construction of this facility. This new facility will bring 14 jobs to the area.

Construction is estimated to be completed in 2018. This facility will provide a full-service ER with expert care available 24/7. It will include a helipad for rapid patient transfer by Parkview Samaritan. This facility will also have a cardiac and pulmonary rehab and inpatient medical and surgical unit.

One of the speakers, Parkview Wabash President Marilyn Custer-Mitchell, was excited to announce that this hospital will be able to offer OB and other women’s health services. She mentioned that in the past, the Wabash hospital has not had the ability to provide OB services or enough women’s health services in the hospital to service the needs of the community.

Groundbreaking speaker and chairman on the Parkview Health Board of directors, David Haist, mentioned this hospital will allow for more people in the community to stay in the community for their medical needs rather than going out of county for their needs. Haist indicated he has seen what a difference Parkview has made in Fort Wayne area and is excited to see how it will help the Wabash community.

This 80,000 square foot facility will feature a 31,000 square-foot medical office building for the Parkview Physicians Group.
