Roberts’ Road Rage Leads To Arrest
PIERCETON — Maudie May Roberts, 34, 7881 E. CR 500S, Pierceton, is being charged with a class A misdemeanor of battery in a road rage incident.
On June 4, a man was sitting at a highway intersection waiting to cross when a vehicle pulled into the “cross-over” and blocked the man’s lane. The man flashed his lights at the vehicle to let them know to come across, as they were blocking their lane of travel. The vehicle did not cross over until the second time the man flashed his lights.
According an affidavit of probable cause, the man stated he was shaking his head as the vehicle passed, when the vehicle then stopped and backed up. The passenger exited the vehicle and began yelling at the people in the other car. The man recognized him as Jeremy Baker. The man said Baker cursed at them and threatened to hit them.
The man stated at one point Baker said, “You going to shoot me?” The two in the car told Baker no and that he should “chill.”
The man in the vehicle stated Roberts exited the vehicle and also started yelling. Roberts then smacked the man in the car on the left side of his face, leaving a red mark. Roberts and Baker then left the scene. The man stated Baker and Roberts had driven by his residence several times since the incident.
The man contacted the Kosciusko Sheriff’s Department to make a report and file a battery charge. The man also stated he was afraid Baker would do something to damage his vehicle while it was parked at his residence.
Officers spoke with Roberts and Baker, who said when they were at the crossover being flashed by the other vehicle’s headlights they couldn’t cross because of oncoming vehicles. Baker stated when they had crossed over the two in the other vehicle started a heated verbal exchange. Roberts denied striking the man in the other vehicle.
Roberts is being held on a $600 cash bond.
