Barbee Lakes Hold Three-Part Flotilla Event
WARSAW — When the Barbee Lakes Property Owners Association decided to host a flotilla, they realized their task would not be an easy one.
There are multiple lakes in the Barbee chain so, according to Bob Gibbs of the BLPOA, a single flotilla could take several hours to make a full circle. With this in mind, the association decided to hold not one, but three, flotillas simultaneously.
The first flotilla started at the Christian Camp pier in Kuhn Lake, then proceeded to Big Barbee and around the lake counterclockwise. The second started at the Barbee Hotel pier, Little Barbee, into Irish Lake and back. The third flotilla started in Sechrist Lake, around Sawmill Lake and back.
The theme was “Favorite Sports.” Participants could decorate their boats to represent their favorite sport, team or athlete. Judging took place by lake, with an overall winner. At deadline, the lists of winners were not available.
