General Meetings Now In New Location
NORTH WEBSTER — With the news the North Webster American Legion Post 253 was no longer serving food or having the kitchen open after Wednesday, July 13, the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce voted to move its general monthly meeting to its new, larger office inside the Tippecanoe Township Building. Members can bring their own lunch to the meeting.
Chamber President Sue Ward noted, “We have been meeting here a long time, giving everyone the option of having lunch.” After discussion of what other member restaurants could hold the group and provide a private meeting area, it was agreed to move into the office for the time being. If more are in attendance than space is available, the group can move to a larger room to meet.
Ward announced the chamber had moved into a more spacious location in the Tippecanoe Township Building at the Monday, July 11, general meeting. The space was formerly occupied by the North Webster Emergency Medical Service, now headquartered in the North Webster Fire Station. Photos of the new signs denoting the chamber office were passed around.
Top on the meeting’s agenda was volunteer help for Dixie Day Saturday, July 30. Sign up sheets for set up, clean up, chamber booth and 5K run were passed around. Anyone wishing to volunteer to help should contact Ward at Sue’s Creations, (574) 834-4323.
Dixie Day Festival & Art Fair celebrates the Dixie sternwheel paddle boat that tours Webster Lake. Applications for artisan vendors, 5K and the car, truck and motorcycle show are available online at www.northwebster.com. Any business with items for the welcome gift bags for the artisan vendors should drop them off at Sue’s Creations.
Any business wanting North Webster Chamber of Commerce Community Guide Books should contact Ward as well. Many have been passed out to area businesses and are being used throughout the community.
July Business of the Month is Epworth Forest Conference Center. The sign has been placed at the center on the north shore of Webster Lake owned by the Indiana United Methodist Conference.
Ward reported several board members had attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at My Little Red Moon in downtown North Webster that morning. It features infants and children’s clothing and accessories as well as selected items from the other three My Red Moon shops in Pierceton, North Manchester and Syracuse. The owner is Tonya Bowser, former chamber president.
The next general meeting will be noon Monday, Aug. 8, at the Tippecanoe Township Building, 102 S. Morton St. directly across the street from the Mermaid Festival Grounds. Attendees can bring their own lunch if they wish.
