Free Halloween Carnival In Syracuse
All you Angry Birds, Super Heros, princesses and assorted spooks and goblins need to be at the Syracuse Community Center, 1013 N. Long Dr., for the free Halloween Carnival from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
The annual community event will be hosted by the Lakeland Youth Center with assistance from the Syracuse-Wawasee Parks Department, Wawasee Kiwanis Club, Wawasee Pee-Wee Football, Syracuse Knights of Columbus, Syracuse Boy Scout Tropp 728 and the Syracuse Parks Department.
There will be carnival games, crafts, hot food concessions and candy, but the main highlight is the costume contest, which will begin at 6 p.m. Prizes will be given for first, second and third places in four age categories. Categories are 0-3 years, 4-6 years, 7-9 years and 10 years and older. Don’t miss the cake walk either.
This ancient Syracuse tradition dates back so far into the misty past, that no one remembers when it was begun. Previously held at the Syracuse Elementary School, the LYC took it over with the other organizations about 10 years ago and it has been held at the SCC ever since.
Parents and grandparents, make a date with your young ones to attend this coming Saturday’s free evening of fun for all.
