Accidents
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following traffic accidents:
- Tuesday, Oct. 16, 1:41 p.m. Lake City Highway and South Center Street. Drivers: Nicholas Rohrer, 53, 665 Walter Way, Warsaw; and April Hatfield, 37, 7911 Chinchilla Ln., Fort Wayne. Rohrer rear ended Hatfield. Damages: up to $5,000
- Monday, Oct. 15, 3:25 p.m. East Center Street and North Roosevelt Street. Drivers: Donald Clemens, 57, 701 Terrace Dr., Winona Lake; and Sarah Fox, 24, 111 E. Van Buren St., Leesburg. Clemens turned through the intersection at the same time as Fox, causing a collision. Damages: up to $5,000
- Monday, Oct. 15, 4:45 p.m. East Center Street and Indiana Street. Drivers: Sharon Hoyt, 50, 404 S. Union St., Warsaw; and Lorraine Trier, 41, 2390 N. Shady Ct., Warsaw. Hoyt entered the intersection at the same time as Trier. Neither party is sure if the light was green or red. Damages: up to $5,000
- Sunday, Oct. 14, 9:56 p.m. Brown Drive. Driver: Keith Jefferson, 27, 340 E. Levi Lee Rd. 64, Warsaw. Jefferson swerved to miss a parked go-kart in the driveway of 704 Brown Dr. and instead struck a parked vehicle in the driveway. Damages: up to $10,000
- Sunday, Oct. 14, 12:49 p.m. West Winona Avenue. Drivers: Genoveva Ramirez, 17, 203 N. SR 19, Akron; and Patrick Meckley, 42, 10271 W. 800 S., Claypool. Ramirez stopped to allow a child to cross the street and was rear ended by Meckley. Damages: up to $2,500
- Saturday, Oct. 13, 3:35 p.m. East Winona Avenue and South Smith Street. Drivers: Nathan Zuercher, 22, 2010 S. 575 West, South Whitley; and Laurie Spegal, 60, 1452 Ford St., Lapel, Ind. Spegal slowed to make a turn. Zuercher attempted to slow but his brakes locked up on the wet pavement and he struck Spegal’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
- Saturday, Oct. 13, 5:17 p.m. Commercer Drive. Drivers: Tracey Willims, 37, 705 Tulip, Bourbon; and Kimberly Craft, 25, 4058 E. 850 South, Claypool. Willims attempted to turn left as Craft passed through the intersection and collided her vehicle. Damages: up to $1,000
- Friday, Oct. 12, 6:25 a.m. Lake City Highway. Drivers: Blake Pilcher, 34, 7135 W. 200 North, Warsaw; Juan Castillo, 20, 751 S. Elm St., Nappanee; and Luke Christen, 25, 7321 Lakeridge Dr., Fort Wayne. Due to the sun’s glare, Pilcher was able to see the light turn to green, but was unable to see Castillo’s vehicle which was slowing down and rear ended him, pushing Castillo’s vehicle in to Christen. Damages: up to $10,000
