Local Teen Wrecks Car Playing Pokemon Go
WARSAW — The new fad sweeping the nation is Pokemon Go, but one teen played a version called Pokemon stop.
A teen was playing Pokemon Go while driving around a traffic circle in Oakwood Cemetery, located at 421 N. Maple Avenue, Warsaw, when he decided he wanted to exit the circle and attempted to make a sharp right turn.
During the turn the vehicle’s right front wheel hit a curb/decorative wall and stopped the Honda Odyssey’s motion. The driver attempted to turn left to continue around the obstacle, but realized the Odyssey was no longer in a driveable condition, as the front passenger side tire had fallen off its bead and the tie-rod on the same side had sheared off. The vehicle had to be towed due to disabling damage.
According to the accident report, Oakwood Cemetery Sexton Hal Heagy reported scratches, gouges and a corner had chipped off the decorative, wall cornerstone the teen had hit. He also stated the damaged cornerstone is a piece of marble that had been installed around the 1900s.
The damage to the 2004 Honda Odyssey was up to $2,500.
