WARSAW — At the monthly meeting of the Warsaw Board of Zoning Monday, July 25, the board was approached with three petitions and approved all of them.

The board was first presented with a request by the Wayne County Trustee to put out an additional sign for the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce. Board member Tom Allen pointed out that if they were to approve an additional sign for this business, another business could question why the BZA would not do it for them. City Planner Jeremy Skinner countered, “Every request has its own merits.”

On behalf of the chamber of commerce, Sheila Burner, advocated for an additional sign because she mentioned the sign they have now is facing the south. The chamber of commerce would like people coming from the other direction be able to see their sign. The motion was unanimously approved to grant the chamber an additional sign.

Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Aaron Hoak, came before the board to advocate moving his church into the building where Think Young at 2626 E Jefferson St. used to reside. “This could be our meeting place if we moved the salon stuff out,” said Hoak.  The board unanimously approved this motion.

Dane Miller came before the board to approve both making his home office for Dane Miller Consulting into a professional office in an R2 district as well as approve a 16 foot sign.

Miller mentioned few employees will work in the office and because they’ve been working in the office for two years already, little will change from this petition. The board approved his petition unanimously.

In reference to the sign, Miller mentioned, “We don’t want to do anything obnoxious.” He simply wanted a marker that would help clients find his office more easily. His request for a sign was granted.

The next meting of the Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals will be at 7 p.m Monday, Aug. 29.
