Francisco Espino ‘Chico’ Obando — UPDATED
Francisco Espino “Chico” Obando, 92, Syracuse, passed away at 5:55 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his son’s home.
He was born on May 3, 1924 in Managua, Nicaragua to Palar and Leocadia (Espino) Obando.
He attended public schools in Nicaragua and was a construction contractor in Nicaragua most of his life. He was raised in the Catholic Church in Nicaragua and visited family in Syracuse often before staying in April 2016.
He is survived by six daughters: Margarita Miranda, Nicaragua; Angela Obando, Costa Rica; Maria Elena Obando, Panama; Rosaura Obando, Nicaragua; Alsira Zeledon, Nicaragua; and Janett Bladon, Nicaragua; Salvador Obando, Costa Rica; Gustavo Obando, Nicaragua; and Erwin (Lisa) Obando, Syracuse; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; two sisters; Nacha Obando and Rafaila Obando, both of Nicaraguea; brother: Gilberto Obando, Nicaragua
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Reinaldo Obando, and grandson Jheovany Obando.
No public services will be held at this time. Private family burial will take place in Nicaragua at a later date. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Sat. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN is in charge of arrangements.
