Triton Volleyball: Perry Returns To Blue Slam
BOURBON – The Triton Athletic Department announced Tuesday afternoon that former Triton volleyball coach, Gayle Perry, has decided to come out of retirement to take over the Blue Slam volleyball program.
Coach Perry will take over for coach Samantha Willsey, who left at the end of the 2015-16 school year.
“We are very excited that coach Perry has decided to return to coaching and take over this program,” Triton Athletic Director Mason McIntyre said. “Gayle always did an outstanding job and we are looking forward to her leading this program again.
“Coach Perry is no stranger to success,” continued McIntyre. “During her first tenure as the varsity volleyball coach, she won three conference, four sectional and two regional championships. She knows how to produce winners on and off the court.”
Perry coached at Triton from 1987 through 2007 to rack up the accomplishments.
Willsey leaves the program after just two years, but produced sectional championships in both seasons. Willsey was 34-28 in her two seasons as head coach at Triton.
The Triton School Board will officially approve coach Perry’s hiring at the August 8 meeting.
