Holloway Leads Police On Chase Around Syracuse
SYRACUSE — Shane Ashley Holloway, 45, 306 W. Valleyview Drive, Syracuse, is being charged with a level 6 felony of resisting law enforcement; criminal recklessness with a vehicle, a class B misdemeanor and four counts of a class B misdemeanor of criminal mischief.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Saturday, July 30, a Syracuse Police officer responded to a call of a white Cadillac driving slowly around the Valleyview Drive area of Syracuse.
The officer located the Cadillac backing out of Holloway’s residence and activated his emergency lights, but the vehicle continued to back out and drive away.
Two officers followed the vehicle two times around the area before the Cadillac finally stopped. Officers identified the driver as Holloway, who was holding a prescription bottle in his hand.
Holloway’s mother arrived and attempted to speak with him, but he would not respond. She told the officers he had been acting strange for at least two hours and was mentally ill.
Holloway, again, drove off with officers pursuing him around the area driving at approximately 10-30 miles per hour. One officer crept into the intersection that Holloway was approaching, with his lights and siren on, in an attempt to stop the Cadillac. Holloway accelerated and intentionally struck the officers vehicle causing damage to the left front and hood.
Officers were eventually able to box the Cadillac in, but in an attempt to get away, Holloway drove the Cadillac into the side of another officer’s vehicle and continued to drive through multiple yards and then struck the left, front bumper and wheel of a police vehicle. Holloway then drove away using both lanes of roadway and driving into oncoming traffic.
Holloway slowed to a stop and a Milford Police officer drove up behind the Cadillac, but Holloway put the vehicle into reverse and backed into the officer’s vehicle. An officer was then able to approach the vehicle and shut off the engine.
Holloway is being held on a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
