KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — A little over a month after Kosciusko Cares debuted their first Teen Film Camp projects, one of the videos has been accepted for a national Film Festival.

Fight Night Polite, one of the four films produced during the camp, has been accepted into the All-American High School Film Festival held in New York City in October. The film was written by Nate Meyer and Jack Stewart and directed by Ian Peloza.

The film was entered in the comedy category, one of the 18 different categories of the film festival. Over 1,800 films from across the nation were entered, with only 65 comedies being selected for the festival.

“It is a great honor for a film to be accepted to a film festival,” said Jessica Hardy, Kosciusko Cares Media Coordinator. “They should be very proud!”

The films, including Fight Night Polite, were completed in two parts. During the first week of the camp, the teens learned how to write a script and came up with plans for the four different films. During the second week, an additional group of teens got to act, direct and help as crew members as the films were produced. Everything was done by the teens except for the video editing, which was done by a professional editor.

At this point, Kosciusko Cares is unsure if the campers will be attending the festival in New York City. If selected as a winner, the local teens could win scholarships or new camera equipment.
