SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Library is closing on Monday, Sept. 5 for Labor Day activities. But Tuesday, Sept. 6 starts the fall story times. Story times meet at 10:30 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays and will be exploring farm animals and school days with the preschool crowd. Preschool children are invited to mornings with stories, crafts and music.
Wednesday is the first alternating Wednesday for toddle on over, an interactive program for children that are one to three years old and their parents or caregivers. Toddle on over will meet at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 7 and Sept. 21 for early literacy fun with books, songs, finger plays, and body movement.
Young adults are talking about books and making a dirt cake during a meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6. Teens have an opportunity meet and relax while discovering new authors.
After school story and craft has met and begun the weekly Thursday program. Children are invited to come into the meeting room at 4 p.m. for an hour of reading books and making a craft.
Book Discussions Coming Up
One book, one hour, the Wednesday night adult book club is getting to read “All the Light We Cannot See.” The Pulitzer Prize winner by Anthony Doerr has been such a popular book that there has been a waiting list since it come out in May of 2014. The discussion group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 14.
Indiana native, Kelsey Timmerman, traveled the world to research “Where am I Eating?” The Syracuse Library has several copies on hand to read for your personal edification or to prepare for a foody get together on Oct. 3. The part of the book that is being discussed is from the chapter “Apple Juice: Product of China.” The evening event is highlighting kale; its place as local produce, and recipes, both new and traditional. Plan to visit the library on Monday, Oct. 3 to see if you are cool enough for kale.
