Pierceton Man Arrested For Burglary, Theft
WARSAW — Zachery Scott Eyer, 29, 365 N. CR 850W, Pierceton was arrested for a level 4 felony of burglary and a level 6 felony of theft.
On Wednesday, June 22 an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a burglary complaint. The homeowner had noticed a bedroom window had been broken out and the back door had been forced open. According to the affidavit of probable cause, the homeowner stated that a jewelry box, several watches, a large jug of change, 52 gold dollar coins and a riding lawnmower were missing from the residence.
On the same day, June 22 a different officer responded to a call in regards to an unwanted subject at a residence. When the officer arrived, two residents advised that Eyer was operating a riding lawnmower in their driveway. When the residents asked Eyer to leave, he reportedly got upset and began throwing jewelry at them. Eyer stated that he purchased the jewelry and lawnmower as a gift for one of the residents.
The officer spoke with Eyer, who admitted to taking the riding lawnmower without consent but said he was going to return it.
On Friday, Aug. 12 an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department met with the original victim of the burglary. The victim stated that her jewelry and and containers of coins had been returned to her by Eyer’s mother’s boyfriend.
The value of the stolen items was $952.
Eyer was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 29 with a bond of $15,250.
