SYRACUSE — The two at-large seats up for election on the Wawasee Community School Corp. Board will be contested races.

Three additional individuals filed their candidacies prior to the noon deadline Friday, Aug. 26. The result is races in both District 1 (Tippecanoe Township) and District 2 (Turkey Creek Township). No candidate filed from District 3 (Van Buren and East Jefferson townships).

Gerald (Gary) Coy, 7438 N. SR 13, North Webster, filed his candidacy Aug. 26, for District 1 and will be going against District 1 incumbent Michael D. “Mike” Wilson, 310 N. Huntington St., North Webster.

David Rosenberry, 4493 E. Magill Court, Syracuse, filed Aug. 25, and Michael E. Lamle, 12097 N. Hiawatha Drive, Syracuse, filed Aug. 26. They will be facing District 2 incumbent Donald August Bokhart, 12419 N. Hillside Lane, Syracuse.

David A. Stookey, 4133 N. 700E, Leesburg, had filed his candidacy for District 1, but withdrew his name from the race.

Coy is a native of the area, living in the North Webster area all his life, except 12 years. He is a graduate of Wawasee High School, a member of the Eagles Lodge, Lakeland Kiwanis Club and helps with the Key Club, Kiwanis Builders Club and North Webster K Kids. He is married to Stacy. Coy is the father of six children, one a kindergarten student at North Webster, and grandfather to 11. Coy has worked at Ace Pest Control for the past nine years and operates a produce stand for the past four season.

Rosenberry is a 1990 Wawasee High school graduate who currently resides in Syracuse with his wife Brittany and 3-year-old son. Between the three of them, they love to explore challenging and exciting hobbies such as researching family ancestry. David also has two older children who reside in Millersburg and North Carolina. He currently works for a company in the private sector in the 911 industry. Before transitioning into his current position in the “911 world,” he started as a 911 dispatcher and worked his way up to 911 Communications Director of Kosciusko County, putting in a total of 21 years working for Kosciusko County government. He also has been a member of the Milford Volunteer Fire Department for 24 years, and continues this venture. He has served on the Indiana chapter of the National Emergency Number Association executive board and is serving as first vice president of Indiana Association of Public Safety Communications Officials.

Lamle and his family have been residents of Syracuse for 25 plus years. His daughter Hannah-Marie is currently a student at Wawasee High School. He is a graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in engineering and holds additional degree/certificates from Purdue. He has been a substitute teacher for the Wawasee school corporation and coached basketball at elementary and middle schools. He has also worked and coached kids through the Lakeland Youth Center.
