Elkhart Plant Closure Will Leave 159 Unemployed
Up to 159 people could lose their jobs at the plant just west of Elkhart on Leer Drive. The company called the REV Group says the facility will close at the end of October. The group says some employees could be offered jobs at other facilities.
The company didn’t say why they are closing the plant.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) and its community partner WorkOne Northern Indiana have activated the state’s Rapid Response team to assist employees affected by the announcement that Goshen Coach intends to close its facility in Elkhart.
The state’s Rapid Response team is activated when a significant layoff or plant closure occurs and pairs knowledgeable WorkOne staff with displaced employees to move them toward a plan for re-employment as soon as possible. Activities focus on connecting displaced employees with local employment opportunities as well as providing resume assistance, interview workshops and skills assessments.
The time and location of the first Rapid Response session will be announced in the near future. For more information, please contact WorkOne Northern Indiana at (574) 237-9675, Ext. 2541.
