Warsaw XC: Girls 4th, Guys 8th At Marion Invite
MARION – It was another strong showing Saturday by the Warsaw girls cross country team.
The Tigers, led by Mia Beckham, notched a fourth-place finish in the Elite Division of the Marion Invitational.
Coach Matt Campbell’s team scored 136 to finish fourth among 21 teams in their division. Carroll won the Elite Division title at 73 with Homestead second (80) and Penn third (10-3).
Beckham turned in a ninth-place finish overall in the race with a time of 18:45.9 to pace her team.
Allison Miller placed 23rd and Charlene Orr 25th in times of 19:20.7 and 19:23.6 respectively for Warsaw. Anna Craig was 35th in 19:45.4 and Lauren Orr 44th in 20:04.4 to round out the team scoring for the Tigers.
Angie Vijil-Sanchez placed 46th (20:05.5) and Emma Bohnenkamper 50th (20:12.8) for Warsaw. Taylor Gunter was 63rd (20:25.4), Megan Metzler 81st (20:46.4) and Amanda Hermann 91st (21:01.5) for the varsity.
Seven of the Warsaw ladies registered personal best times in the race.
The Warsaw girls junior varsity team also placed fourth with a team score of 77. Carmen Yoder of the Tigers won the JV race in a time of 19:55.6.
Amsile Gowett was 14th for the Warsaw JV in a time of 21:31.8. Tsige Berelsman was 18th (21:53.1), with Lex Desenberg 24th (22:04.6) and Meredith Phipps 26th (22:07.5). Leah Reinholt placed 29th (22:12.1), while Megan Dawson was 34th (23:27.8), Remi Beckham 36th (22:34.7) and Sieraa Palmer 37th (22:38.1).
The Warsaw boys team finished in eighth place among 22 teams in the Elite Divison. Carroll was the team champion with a score of 63, while the Tigers totaled a 228.
Zeb Hernandez paced the Tigers as he finished in 11th place among individuals with a time of 16:01.
Xavi Ramirez was 27th in a time of 16:23 and Lucas Howett 28th in 16:24 for Warsaw. Taylor Mills was 62nd in a time of 17:05 and Nathaniel Gottschalk 113th in 17:49.
Nick Bazzoni was 125th (18:02) for Warsaw with Kennis Dye 125th (18:09) and Justin Flemming 140th (18:22). Hunter Metzler was 148th in a time of 18:34 with TJ Day 153rd in 18:46 for the varsity Tigers.
The Warsaw JV team also placed eighth on the day. Eric Williamson was the top finisher for Warsaw with an eighth-place finish in a time of 18:47. He was followed by teammates Gary Keys in 49th (18:52), Ryan Bonebrake in 52nd (18:55), Isaac Mitchel in 63rd (19:04), Anthony Bass in 64th (19:04), Caleb Remocaldo in 83rd (19:34), Luke Howard in 91st (19:55), Trent Thompson in 93rd (20:00), Riley Hogenson in 20:23 and Jack Horoho in 114th (20:36).
Warsaw returns to Northern Lakes Conference action versus host Northridge and Elkhart Memorial on Tuesday night at Bonneyville Mille Park in Bristol at 5:30 p.m.
