Triton Tennis: Trojans Claim Marathon Match
BOURBON – They played well into the night, but the Trojans prevailed. Finishing up at approximately 8:45 p.m. Wednesday evening, Triton outlasted South Bend Riley, 4-1, in boys tennis.
The two teams traded courts to open, with Triton’s Carter Kuntz beating AJ Cabanaw 6-1, 6-0 at three singles and RIley’s Sam Moran shutting out Aaron Stichter 6-0, 6-0.
Triton’s Mace Eads was the next to wrap up a court, beating Lee Ngochi 6-3, 7-5 at one singles.
The doubles matches would play on for a while. Triton claimed the team win after the one doubles pair of Keygan Mosier and Chase Butler finished off Raymond Suth and Evan McClain 6-1, 6-7 (4), 6-1. Wrapping up the long night was the Triton two doubles team of Grant Eib and Tyler Heckaman, who weathered the Riley duo of Bailey Probst and Nolan Kalka 3-6, 7-6 (11), 6-4.
South Bend won both of the JV matches.
Triton (5-6) is off until a Monday matchup at Bremen.
