Julia Holcomb to Speak at Grace Chapel
WINONA LAKE — Julia Holcomb, former girlfriend and legal ward of Steven Tyler, lead singer of the rock band Aerosmith, will speak in the Grace College chapel service on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Chapel takes place in the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center (MOCC), 601 Wooster Rd., Winona Lake, at 10:30 a.m. The public is welcomed and encouraged to attend chapel.
Holcomb was 16 years old when she became the legal ward of Steven Tyler. At age 17, Holcomb survived a devastating apartment fire. She was pregnant at the time. While recovering from the fire at a hospital, Holcomb was coerced into an abortion. In the following years, Holcomb rebuilt her life. She attributes her recovery to her faith in Jesus Christ.
Holcomb is the author of the memoir “The Light of the World,” first published on LifeSite News. She is also an accomplished artist, specializing in iconography, portraiture and landscape realism. Holcomb is happily married to her husband of 30 years; they have seven children.
Holcomb will keynote the Kosciusko County Right to Life banquet on Monday, Sept. 19 in the MOCC. “For those unable to attend the right to life banquet,” said Brent Mencarelli, chaplain at Grace College, “this is a great opportunity to hear a remarkable story of God’s redemption and purpose through extremely difficult circumstances. We are delighted to have Julia speak to the Grace student body and community on Wednesday,” he said.
Chapel is a regular part of Grace College campus life and open to the community. It takes place every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. For more information about chapel and to view the fall chapel schedule, visit online or call (574) 372-5100.
